Best seen from Devils Elbow State Park off Hwy 101, this is one of Oregons' most photographed lighthouses. (This lighthouse is often pictured in calenders.) The setting is truly breathtaking! Only if you stay at the B&B in the keepers house, do you get to go inside the light and marvel at the 1st order Fresnel lens (Fair warning, reservations for this B&B need to be made months in advance. They have a much deserved terrific reputation. I've never had a two hour breakfast before the gourmet one I had here.You should treat yourself to a stay here if you are ever in the area.) A nite walk up to the tower, in heavy rain, gave me a first-hand glimpse of what is truly meant by a beam of light. Through rain drops and some fog, each ray of the lens light was silhouetted against the black sky. A sight I shall never forget.
